Lexicon Kickstarter is Coming!

Can you believe it!  Kickstarter time has arrived already. Somewhere on or shortly after October 9th, we will announce the Kickstarter campaign has begun. This is your chance to back Lexicon and get your badge for the lowest possible cost. Plus, you can back at higher levels to receive a variety of exclusives unavailable elsewhere. Our highest level backers receive some truly unique rewards. The truth is though, backing the Kickstarter campaign is your way of saying you are part of the inner Lexicon community; the ones who create the foundation that makes the entire convention possible. And speaking of possible, this year we are able to dream bigger and better than ever before. Thanks to expansions at the Clarion, we are increasing our available space by over 30%. RPGs will now have their own designated area and Open Play will move into the ballroom with the library and the vending hall. We also hope to bring back our LARP and Artemis experiences. This is going to be the best Lexicon yet. And you can get in on the beginning. So keep an eye out for our Kickstarter campaign announcement on or shortly after October 9th.

CinCityCon is Near

Just a reminder that our sister event up in Cincinnati, CinCityCon is now just two weeks away.  Pre-registration closes on Monday so if you are interested in attending this is your best opportunity. CinCityCon includes many of your favorite events from Lexicon such as the Ginormous Game Library, State Championship Tournaments (but in another state!), a Saturday Party and lots of prizes. We cannot offer all of the great Learn-to-Plays or one on one experiences of Lexicon. However, we do have a lot more space which means twice as many events for board games and RPGs as well as Artemis Spaceship Simulator, a Miniatures room, the unbelievable Space Hulk model, the Grail Games Lounge and more. CinCityCon is conveniently located in Sharonville, OH right off of I-75. Parking is free and there are to hotels, the Hyatt Place and the LivINN next door to the convention center. We hope oyu will be able to join us for what should be an amazing convention!

Thank You!

Wow, what an amazing weekend! This was by far the best Lexicon ever, and it was also our biggest ever. On behalf of all of us who help organize this great event, thank you to everyone who attended. We have far and way the best guests of any Con and you all make it so much fun to put on every year. Thank you!

So, do you want the really exciting news? Due to continuing renovations of the convention center, Lexicon 2019 will have 25% more space next year! This means a change to layout but will help us make sure we have enough tables for all the exciting events while greatly expanding the space available for open play. We can’t wait.

Would you like to step up your involvement, and volunteer to help with Lexicon 2019? Please send a note to our volunteer coordinator at volunteer@lexicongaming.com.

And last but not least, don’t forget that Lexicon moves to the first weekend in April next year because of the conflict with Easter. See you then!

You Too Can Learn-to-Play!

That’s right, our Learn-to-Play schedule is now online.  What is Learn-to-Play?  Learn-to-Play or LTP is where we at Lexicon arrange for some of the best local game players to teach you about some of the latest and most fun games.

LTPs tend to focus on four areas:

  • Newer games that folks would like to learn,
  • Classic or older games that for newer gamers,
  • Tournament warm-ups,
  • And our now famous 5 Games in 90 Minutes series where we focus on teaching games according to a theme.

5 Games in 90 is pleased to bring back such popular sessions as Games for Couples and Games Everyone Should Know.  Due to demand several of these sessions will be offered at multiple times throughout the weekend.

Our Tournament Warm-Ups are an opportunity for those wishing to participate in our tournaments (and win prizes) to learn the rules of the game beforehand or to get a refresher on the game.

Tournament Schedule Online

As we continue the roll-out of the Lexicon 2018 Schedule, we are pleased to announce that tournaments are now online. Tournaments come in all variety of shapes and sizes, but the main thing for you to know is that they all come with prizes!

Note: As with all Lexicon events, you must have a badge to participate in tournaments, a tournament ticket alone will not gain admittance.

Here is a quick summary of some of our tournaments:

Catan National Qualifier: The big event!  32 participants playing Catan with all winning prizes.  The overall winner gets an all-expense paid trip to Origins 2018.

State Championships: In cooperation with Envoy, we will host State Championships for Dimension, Skull King, Neuroshima Hex, Game of 49, Diamonds, Nevermore, and Ice Cool.

Convention Exclusive: That’s right, the convention only Pandemic Survival tournament returns. Twice!  We have added the new American Pharaoh room to our space to ensure that the director is heard by everyone!  You can’t play this at your FLGS.

Lexicon Tournaments: Our regular or semi-regular events such as Ticket to Ride (sponsored by the Rusty Scabbard), Valley of the Kings (with the designer Tom Cleaver), Splendor and DC Deck-Builder.

New Tournaments: We are very excited to be bringing you new tournaments from the cerebral Century Spice Road to the rambunctious and fun-for-all-ages Crokinole.  Other tournaments include Dicey Goblins and Evolution.

RPGs are Now Available

Great News!  As we continue the role out of the Lexicon 2018 Schedule, we have reached the Role Playing Games. The great majority of our RPGs are now available on the online schedule.  As always, RPGs are open to reserve your seat in advance.  There is a small $2 fee to guarantee your seat.  Any remaining seats will be filled on a first-come basis without charge at the time of the event.

You will find more than 50 events for Pathfinder, Starfinder, D&D Adventure League, D&D 5th Edition, and more on the site. You will also see that many of our other events are on the schedule to help you plan.  The (nearly) complete schedule will be fully online by Friday.

See you in just over 2 weeks!

Attendance Record Expected for Lexicon 2018

Pre-registration for Lexicon is at the highest it’s ever been … and the schedule is not even published yet.  (The schedule is slated to be published by next week.) All expectations are that this will be the biggest Lexicon to date, far surpassing 2017. Lexicon will continue to grow with the convention center and should be able to accommodate all the new guests. That said, guests can expect the Friday and Saturday parties to sell out, possibly before the end of pre-registration. So guests who wish to attend those events are encouraged to buy their tickets as soon as possible.

We're sorry, but all tickets sales have ended because the event is expired.

Catan WinnersThe bottom line is that Lexicon 2018 is going to be amazing!  The Library is bigger than ever, the schedule is bigger than ever, the prizes are bigger than ever and the attendees are more awesome than ever!  Yeah, you know who we’re talking about.  We cannot wait to see everyone. This is going to be an amazing year.

Are you ready to … Party!

“The most fun I have ever had at Lexicon, I didn’t play a single game.  The Saturday Party was just so much fun.  Next year I want to get involved with their game show.” – Stacy M.

Friday and Saturday party tickets are now available online.  If you have been to one of our parties before, you most certainly have been waiting for this announcement.  If you have not, you don’t want to miss out.  Tickets ARE limited and will sell out.

Catan Tournament Tickets now available!

That’s right, our annual Catan tournament is back for 2018, and tickets are available to purchase now. As always the grand prize is an all-expense paid trip to Origins 2018. This prize includes a four day badge for Origins, hotel stay for that period at a hotel near the convention center, the cost of transportation, and admission to the Catan National Tournament and right to compete to be U.S. champion.

In addition, all entrants to the Lexicon Catan Tournament will receive a prize with at least $10.

The Pillars of the Earth

At the beginning of the 13th century, construction of the greatest and most beautiful cathedral in England begins. Players are builders who try to contribute the most to this cathedral’s construction and, in so doing, score the most victory points.  Recently reprinted!

Professor Evil and the Citadel of Time

Professor Evil owns a time machine, and he’s been ripping off all the best historical items from times both past and future. Your team has been charged with confiscating these items and returning them to their proper locations in time, so you now need to infiltrate the mansion and abscond with four items before Prof. Evil can secrete four of them in locations inaccessible to you. Thankfully the old soul is a bit daft and won’t evaporate you should he catch you lurking through the mansion, but simply scoot you out the front door where he’ll forget about you immediately.
